Onward and Upward
Week 9 was vacation. Week 10 I’m back on track. Which took some doing because we are still dealing with the lingering effects of our not so friendly Mr. Montezuma. To be honest today I’m calling the Dr. because I now suspect it’s something more than just travelers diarrhea. But I’m feeling well enough to train so we move on.
If you just can’t get enough of me on the blog I do have an AmySaysSo Facebook page and I have started posting Facebook live videos. Which is perhaps fun – perhaps annoying. Check it out and let me know.
All the shopping
This week I bought all kinds of things. I don’t know quite what got into me except maybe it was just time to do some shopping. I am a believer that you have to move stuff out to make way for new better things and I have been working on clearing things out. So maybe I cleared enough that new stuff was ready to come on in. Who knows. I got new shoes. Those were way way way overdue and needed since I want to do more running. Want in that sentence should be need. Then I got a new watch – the Garmin 935. So far it’s great. Good bye chest heart rate strap. Good bye.
I had written a post sort of ranting about how expensive the new watches were and asking would I buy the new one. So, I did on the very first day. In fact I think I’m one of the first to have one because. Here’s how that happened. We had a tri club meeting on Wednesday and the Garmin reps came to demo the watch. I’m president of the club this year. I know … I’m kind of a big deal. Lol. I’m not. But I did say how I thought I would get the watch in front of the owner of the store. And low and behold he texted me 2 days later and said – if you really want one they just arrived. And I did want one so I went and got it. Even if you don’t join my tri club you should probably join one near you. I got a discount on the watch that made it more affordable.
As a side effect of this I’m selling my Garmin 910 on ebay and the Shiv is also soon to be up for sale. I need to clean it, take off the accessories that I’m keeping and take some photos. But if you need an XS Shiv I’ve got an extra. lol.
And I finally bought a new bike. More on that later.
All the training … well mostly. Ha!
So I did all my workouts except except my personal training strength work. I skipped Monday on purpose because I wasn’t sure I was healthy. Then I skipped Wednesday because my trainer was going out of town for Ironman Texas and I did NOT want to give him any illness and then Friday he was out of town. Did I do my own strength work. Meh … a little bit. This is why I have a trainer because I cannot be trusted to do it on my own. I believe in coaching. That’s the first question you should ask a coach when you go to hire them … who is your coach. If they don’t have an answer … think about that before you hire them. If they aren’t competing in triathlon they may not have a triathlon coach per se but somewhere in their life they probably have a coach a business coach or a lifestyle coach something.
So the breakdown.
Swim – I did 4 swims. Masters swimming Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Boom! And a very short open water swim on Saturday after my run.
Bike – 3 bike workouts all on the trainer. The third would have been outdoors but the weather was craptastic. So I did 2h30 on the trainer with trainer road. All I can say is yes I am all caught up on my podcast listening. Sheesh.
Run – 5 runs. FIVE!!! Some were very small but that’s good. That might even be my plan at the moment. But 5 runs in one week. It’s been years since I could say that. Years.
So it’s all good. Happy Monday folks go out there and get it done. As for me I need to get my toosh to my strength session!
